Ammeter

An ammeter measures the intensity of an electric current, which is the speed of charged particles moving through a circuit. The current is measured in amperes (A). 

An ammeter is connected in series with the circuit being measured. It has low resistance so that it doesn’t cause a significant voltage drop in the circuit.
